More Samaritan members helped by meal service

Take Them a Meal provided another way for friends and family to help out Samaritan Ministries members Scott and Sara Pruett last fall.
Scott was in a hospital for two weeks following unexpected back surgery.
“It was a big ordeal,” he says.
Between recovery pain and medications, “it was very difficult to keep up with work and maintain focus.”
That made life difficult for the Pruetts, but members of the family’s home group from church came to the rescue with a Take Them a Meal schedule for Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays for about two months.
The Pruetts enjoyed “all sorts of food, everything from simple casseroles that provided plenty of leftovers, to multi-dish meals.”
“It was another way for community, church, or otherwise, to rally around us with support,” Scott says.
Member Kelly Degenhart used it to help schedule meals for SMI Executive Vice President James Lansberry’s family after the birth of their son, Ezekiel, in January.
“A few things I love about this site is that it has a place to list special notes like allergies, drop-off times, how many people the meals are for, address, phone or directions, etc,” Kelly says. “That makes letting everyone know those important details easier. The handy slots for a person to put what they’re bringing helps everyone know what meals are planned so they don’t get five lasagnas.”
Tina Howard says her family uses it whenever they have to coordinate a meal for church or church members.
“I like that it is easy to set up and easy to access,” she says.
